William Stanley, MSW, obtained his Master's degree while living with his family in Southern California and attending the University of Southern California (USC). He and his wife, Carol, and their two children moved to Washington State in 1983. Bill worked in the Seattle office of the State Division of Children's Services, but in 1993 he and Carol came to Valley Counseling Associates in Renton as senior therapists and owners, and have been there ever since. Bill has focused on treating individuals with depression and anxiety, as well as couples and partners who struggle with communication and differing expectations for the relationship. After raising two sons, he is pleased to find that he enjoys working with adolescent males, as well as with men trying to find their way in a changed world.
Bill looks on the first therapy session as a kind of audition, knowing that you will be deciding if he can be helpful with what you are facing. If it seems to be working, they set another time. There's much research that shows that the relationship a person has with the therapist greatly determines how successful the therapy will be.
Call Bill at his Valley Counseling voice mail, 206-394-6333. These contacts are held in the strictest confidence -- the only way this process can work. Given energy and time, it does work.
